Do you ever get that feeling where it’s like, you’re looking at something and it’s looking right back at you?
These images were shot over a year ago and I’ve yet to share them as I have been holding them close. Something about them really resonates with me. Often, when shooting creatively for me, versus for a client, I find myself within the images. Almost like a collection of self portraits, though not my body, they are a reflection of me. Sharing them makes me feel very vulnerable but also very empowered. There’s something deeply comforting in creating or connecting with something that visually represents how I feel or have felt.
Maybe that’s what I love so much about art! It’s amazing how it can touch you from the inside out and how its affect on you can change over time; depending on your mood or what you’re going through. It can comfort you or it can disturb you. When I find something I love I try to ask myself why… why do I love this? And then my mind wanders to; why did the artist love this? Why did they create it? Where in their mind were they when they created it? Do my reasons connect with their reasons? Am I the only one who does this? Well surely not but either way, now you have a glimpse into what it’s like inside my mind…
If you have any thoughts on this, feel free to share them with me.
Thank you to my model Amy for helping me create these images and for your trust time and time again. xo
